Predicting The Masters Winner

Could Matt Willis, ESPN Researcher (alias The Eliminator) actually be right? Can The Masters winner really be picked purely through golf stats?

“Say it ain’t so!” It leaves no room for conquered nerves, gutsy plays, brilliant shot calls, weather warriers… everything that adds up to The Masters magic. But Willis predicted Lee Westwood, and right now he has a 1-shot lead after 54 holes, with a 4-under-par 68. Doubtless, Mr. Westwood had earned his position and is obviously a golfer to be reckoned with. But let’s hope it’s just a coincidence -

Shoot, if I thought life was nothing but probability and statistical analysis, I’d stop trying… anything! Where’s the fun in learning something new, or succeeding against all the “odds”. Where do inspiration and guts figure in these equations? Statistics have their place, but not in the art of living! Sorry, guys and gals… guess I got kinda hot under the collar.

Full speed ahead, Mr. Eastwood – have a great game tomorrow. And the same goes to all the others  – you can be sure they have no respect whatsoever for golf stats!
